I am trying to set up a small office network. I have a ze5385us with win xp. I am trying to connect with a desktop pavilon 7965 with win 2000. The network setup disk that I made with win xp doesn't work with win 2000. I am using a DI-614+ router.

I had the same problem. On windows 2000 you have to configure your network card with Microsoft NetBeui
protocol. You can do this by Right clicking "My Network Places" on the desktop. Select "Right click Local Area Connection" You will see the the protocol configure for your network card. If you don't see the NetBeui protocol then Highlight "Client for Microsoft Networks and click the install button. Then select the Protocol and click add button. On the next screen you should see the NetBeui select it and click OK. Once the protocol is installed you should be able to go the My Network Places by clicking on the icon and then click on "Computer near me" and the windows xp should appear.

    Hope this works for you.

    Good luck,

I couldn't get that to work either. I must have been doing something wrong. I upgraded to XP like my notepad. I had everything loaded and the networks installed. They wouldn't communate. I kept trying but to no avail. Then I thought I would changes pull in holes on my router and then they worked. I had the plug in the WAN hole and then I put it in the number 1 port and that was the problem all the time.

    Thanks for your help
