SmartPOE on AP-635?

    Hello,

Please could someone clear up a question for us? We have installed some 635's, dual-linked (2x.at). The 655 does SmartPOE and combines the 2 POE power sources to create class 5 .bt, but the 635s don't seem to be doing this. Can anyone confirm whether that is expected behaviour please? The docs for the 630 series don't mention SmartPOE (or combining power) so maybe they don't, but I believe the AP-530 series does so it seems a bit of a retrograde step for the 630's not to. We just want to confirm either way.

you can refer to the AP-635 datasheet which states

    Hello Ariyap,

Yes I did read that, and it doesn't mention SmartPOE or combining power, so I guess the answer is no. A colleague had been told some time ago that dual-link APs would all be SmartPOE capable  which is why we were looking to get a solid 'yes' or 'no' to back up our interpretation of the docs (essentially so we know whether there is a bug or not).

yes thats right, it mentions that when powered with both Eth interfaces, it wil provide hitless failover, and can't be combined .
