    Hi,

I have 2 standalone mobility controllers configured as active/standby in which all APs are terminated to the active controller. I would like to know if I can configure this as active-active so that half of the APs will be terminated to one controller and the other half to the second to achieve load balancing. Is it possible?

    Thank you.

You can manually control this with LMS/B-LMS. You will not get the same type of load balancing with APs and Clients as you would with Clustering (requires Mobility Conductor), but you will be able to make your AP connections redundant.

AP System Profile 1 : Controller 1 Primary LMS / Controller 2 Backup LMS
AP System Profile 2 : Controller 2 Primary LMS / Controller 1 Backup LMS

Thanks Dustin. So should I create 2 VRRP instances, one with the first controller active and second with the other controller active? Pls correct me if I'm wrong. Please share if you have any document for this.

I see that you have ACMX certification and I am planning to pursue this. Can you please advice how to prepare for this as well as from where can I get the mock labs?

    Thanks,

Your VRRP for the two controllers should be used for controller discovery and not for LMS in your setup. If you had two sets of controllers (4 total) then maybe you would want to use VRRP VIPs for LMS and B-LMS for site redundancy. If its just the two controllers, I would use the controller IPs as your LMS and B-LMS.

I would refer you to the ACMX Certification page at https://www.arubanetworks.com/support-services/training-services/certified-mobility-expert/

I would also recommend picking up the HPE Press books, and also the David Wescott book found here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZY54QJL/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

Aruba does have self-paced learning and labs that you can purchase. At the very least though, I would highly recommend you take the ACMX Course here https://inter.viewcentral.com/events/cust/search_results.aspx?cid=aruba&pid=1&lid=15&tstamp=1595950749012&event_id=620,620&postingForm=catalog.aspx

Thank you. I'll look the materials and course.

So if LMS and B-LMS is used for load balancing, both controllers needs licenses installed?

    Thank you.

If you have centralized licensing configured they can share the same set of licenses.

    Hi Dustin,

I just bough the David Westcott book from amazon.

Is the below e-learning with self paced labs beneficial for the ACMX exam. I'm looking for real exam like lab scenario.

Please share any helpful material to my email ajinskariah@gmail.com if you have any.

    Thanks a lot.

I personally like the instructor led classes because you can ask questions during the course. I would assume you get the same content from this, and still get to run through the labs. I would still try and get some kind of cheap lab gear for yourself as well and practice building, and re-building solutions over and over to get proficient with the configs. The biggest thing about the practical exams is time management.

Depending on your location, I would strongly recommend any Aruba training class taught by David Westcott.  He was the first instructor to perform Aruba training and is very thorough,

I'm not sure if it is still the case with 8.x, but in 6.x the standby controller could not terminate APs. If both controllers are standalone, like config synchronized through Airwave or in another way, the suggested approach of using LMS to spread the APs over the controllers would work.
