In our office, we have the following problem:

We had HP 1920 switches, and we are migrating to Aruba 2930F switches. MSTP was configured on these, while STP is configured on the HP 1920 switches.

We are experiencing the problem that some loop or similar issue is bringing down all the switches, and then they become unresponsive until they are rebooted.

What could be the problem? Are STP and MSTP compatible, or is it advisable to have them all unified? Could this cause the entire network to go down?

Hi! Was your network topology designed to be loop free? Is your network currently free of loops? STP versions should match...but in a loop free network STP should not be an issue, at least up to some point (wrongly configured != poorly configured).
