Wireless Access

Is there any way to remotely switch a controlled MSM460 to autonomous mode if the controller goes offline, other than physically factory-resetting the units individually?    Their individual management interfaces become unresponsive once they establish a secure tunnel with the controller; if they lose contact, will they start answering again after a period, or can they be configured to?

 

I'm trying to build a controlled wireless network in a remote location, and need to develop SOPs for contingencies like controller failure; it'd be nice if that didn't have to be giving every AP on the network the paperclip reset.

Not that I'm aware of. However, remember that if you're controller goes offline you aren't necessarily screwed. Any VSCs that aren't access controlled/tunneled through the controller will continue to allow wireless connections even when the controller is down. That's because in those cases almost everyone sets up those secured VSCs to be egressed off to the regular network switches. IMHO, it's best just to make sure you get an applicable carepack on your MSM controller if you're worried about it going down.
