    All

We currently have a Controller based setup with one exception.  There is an Instant AP Mesh Portal connected to our network to bridge across a street to an Instant Mesh Point (both AP-367s).  The mesh point is then connected to a switch providing connectivity to campus APs on the other side of the street (this was set up years ago before my time here so I have no historical knowledge of why, etc).  I would like to convert those to Instant APs to Campus based Mesh bridge.

My issue is that we have no real access to the APs and in order to set up a campus mesh point, it has to be connected to the network first to get it's config and then it can function as a bridge.  My question is more of a sanity check or to see if there's an easier way.  I plan to take an AP-635 and configure it a mesh point.  Then take it and prop it up in the window of the remote building.  Then I can reconfigure the network connected mesh portal as a campus ap mesh portal.  It should connect to the 635.  Then if I feed the switch from the 635 the network should span over and I can now connect the 367 mesh point via ethernet and convert it to campus mesh point.  After it comes up and connects, I can remove the 635.

Is there an easier (or safer) way to accomplish my goal without taking the 367s off of the roof and setting them up?

    Thanks

The only "safe" method is going to be pulling those APs down, reconfiguring the APs as part of the controller environment, provisioning as mesh, and then validating that traffic flows as expected.
