Hello - I need to upgrade an Aruba 5410R & Aruba 3810M switch both running VRRP (master/backup).  The 5410R is the master and the 3810M is the backup.  What's interesting is the 3810M is running an older code KB.16.08.0009 than then 5410R KB.16.09.0010.  I have 3 questions:

    1) I assume I would want to get both switches up to the same code release as a best practice?  Obviously its working with different code bases right now but would imagine it's better to have the same release
    2) Is it better to upgrade the backup first then the master?  My plan is to upgrade both to KB.16.09.0021
    3) in theory, there should be very little downtime with the upgrade (assuming all clients are pointing to the virtual gateway and not an individual switch of course)

    Thanks

    Hi!

    (1) It's not essential but, generally speaking, very desiderable (having the same software version and build on both platforms - Aruba 5400R zl2 and Aruba 3810M - would simplifying troubleshooting when necessary and keeps features and options pretty much consistents).

    (2) It shouldn't make difference (starting with the backup isn't a bad idea at all).

    (3) Yes, it shouldn't hit in a noticeable way (that's the purpose of a VRRP setup).
