  • 1.  Use HP IMC to upgrade OS on IRF stack?

    Posted May 08, 2015 06:08 PM

I'm running IMC 7.1x and would like to use software deployment service to upgrade my various IRF stacks. Anybody have experience with this and have a reason not to use IMC for this task? I'm assuming it will upgrade the Slave then flip it to Master then upgrade the other switch.

    Thanks

Crickets? Nobody has ever tried upgrading an IRF stack via iMC?

I just pointed iMC at a 5500 IRF pair via the software deploy. It makes it all the way through the deploy wizard prior to the actual deploy. At no point does it recognize the IRF stack which makes me leary that it won't copy the bin's to each switches flash.

I also had this question, but then I found this hp article https://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_sf-EN_US000005214 referencing imc upgrading a 5000 series switch stack. It mentions an issue with the imc software deployment scrips on imc v7.1, which are not properly loading the software onto members of the stack. I'm on imc v7.3 and also a 5000 series stack. So I thought I'd give it a try, must have worked out the bugs right? The upgrade failed, something about "The device cannot recognize the uploaded device software." which I know is the correct software, because I've upgraded 10 other single switches of the exact same type. Guess I'm doing it on-site.
