Hi,

the documation (Adding a Device on CPPM) is telling us, that the field "Vendo Name" when adding new device is an optional field. That's true, but ...
When I left the field empty, i got an error and can't add the device.

Failure undefined error

When I click on cancel, the device will still be added BUT not shown immediately!
Only when i click on "Devices" again, my recently added device is being displayed!

Is there any specific reason in removing vendor name from vendor name column?

Are you trying to add any non supported vendor device in CPPM?

Well we are using Cisco ACS 5.8 to authenticate Admin-Logins on some Applications/Appliances and we are able to to use the IETF supported VSAs for them.

For now we are making a PoC with CPPM and I need to test these too, but the Vendors of these Appliances are not available on the "Vendor Name" List.

This field is used to determine the CoA that will be associate with this NAD.

I would say that it was a mandatory field...

If the device does not exist use a similar device or IETF.

as the device has been added - as described previously - I've exported the device and recognized the "Vendor Name" was set to "IETF".

But documentation is little confusing ...

I reported this to the ClearPass team. I think the documentation should be improved on this topic as IETF is configured anyways as your export shows and I personally don't like optional fields that do something that is not clearly shown.

Would it be acceptable for you as a workaround for now to select IETF instead of leaving the field empty?

I agree with you and yes! it would be better to set a default value to ITEF Documentation shoud be updated too.

I had contact with the product team and documentation will be updated to be more accurate and more clear on this topic.

EDIT: The online documentation for ClearPass 6.7 and ClearPass 6.8 have been updated.
