AFAIK there is no such limit. Two spines is a minimal redundant topology, probably that's why the guide is focused on that. The actual number of Spines should be defined according your needs and more specifically needs for redundancy and traffic throughput. Since each Leaf should be connected to each Spine, having two Spines will make ECMP on a Leaf to utilize 2 links, while in case with 4 Spines each Leaf will distribute traffic among 4 links, which gives you 2x more throughput in comparison to the 2-Spine architecture.

I know the design reference guide tell 2 spine with the 8360, 4 is better or there is a limit?
