  • 1.  WLAN - Employee vs Guest screen options

    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out something with a guest SSID that I've configured via CLI but that doesn't show up in the GUI as one would expect.

I created the WLAN and all it's associated profiles for a captive portal with Clearpass just like we have elsewhere in other environments.  However, when I navigate to the WLAN section in the GUI, the WLAN's primary usage shows up as "employee" even though all of the profiles link to each and reference the captive portal profile.  If I go ahead and recreate the WLAN using the wizard with the exact same options as the CLI, it then shows up as "guest" for the primary usage.

Could I have missed a command when entering it in the CLI or is there some other method that the OS8 environment uses to determine what its primary usage is supposed to be?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

If you configure a WLAN via the CLI, not everything will match up with the "primary usage" portion when viewed in the GUI.  I would ignore that.

Thanks for the confirmation.  I'll just ignore that, but I'm still puzzled as to why the GUI would show different information.

I want to say that due to the number of profiles that could potentially exist in a WLAN today, the logic to detect what kind of wlan it is, probably needs to be updated.  It should have no material affect on how things function, to my knowledge.
