  • 1.  WLC and AP Country Code

Guys, just curious question from my customer.

We have a project but for the initial setup, my customer wants to setup some APs adopted from their HO in a different country.

    the APs is a 550-RW
    the WLC is a 7210-US
Say if they created an AP-group with one of the RW country code for these particular APs,
    would that work?

If yes, would the APs has a particular flag for this kind of setup?

    Thank you.

Based on some previous discussions I would assume that you can't mix US and RW codes. If your customer want to deploy APs in US, then it has a problem as RW APs are not legal in US and vice versa.

Yes ive seen those discussion, my case is a bit different. My APs are going to stay in the rw countries. Just the WLC going to be in the US.

APs will operate in the regulatory domain of the controller, when connected to a region locked controller.

-RW APs connected to a -US controller will be locked to the -US requirements and restricted to the FCC regulatory domains.  Any APs connected to that -US controller are required to be physically present within the configured regulatory domain.

Even if i assign an ap group with rw ap system profile specifically for those AP?

    Will the AP still work?

It's just for testing purposes. What if the us wlc get assign to one of the rw country code?

I'll state this again: APs will operate in the regulatory domain of the controller, when connected to a region locked controller.

You cannot configure an AP to operate in a regulatory domain not supported by the region locked controller.  Doesn't matter if for testing or otherwise.  Doesn't matter what the model of the AP is.
