Subject: Zoom Issues on Aruba Central – Instability and Disconnections
Hi, you can test it on a limited area to start with if you use computer authentication with certs on your WPA-2 enterprise SSID.
10.7 is SSR release, are you using gateways or standalone APs with AOS10?

Hello Oden74,
Thanks for bringing up this topic! I saw that Antonio responded, mentioning that this bug was fixed in version 10.7.0.2.
Since I am currently running firmware 10.4.1.6 in an environment with AP models 315 and 515, would you recommend testing version 10.7.0.2 to see if it resolves the disconnection and instability issues?
I appreciate any guidance!

In this post they experienced frequent disconnects with eap-tls and computer certification running 10.4.1.5. Your basic rates are ok so I think you should open a TAC case for further investigation.

Hi, thanks for your response!
- Security Type: The SSID is configured as WPA2-Enterprise, and changing it is not an option for this network.
- Basic Rates: We have already trimmed the basic rates, with a minimum transmit rate of 12 Mbps and a maximum of 54 Mbps for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The beacon rate is also set to 12 Mbps.
Since we still see roaming alerts even when users are stationary, would you recommend increasing the minimum rate to 18 Mbps or 24 Mbps to reduce unnecessary roaming? Also, is there anything else we should check in terms of optimizing roaming behavior for better Zoom performance?
Appreciate any insights you may have!

Hi, is it a WPA2 or WPA3 SSID? PSK or Enterprise?
Have you trimmed the basic rates on the SSID like removing everything up to 11Mbps?

Hello again, thanks @Leroyvdw21
Following up on my previous post, I wanted to provide more details based on the questions raised.
Environment Details:
- The issue occurs in meeting rooms and office spaces. Users are in the same room as the AP, with drywall walls.
- The problem is happening across multiple buildings and at different times of the day.
- AP models: Aruba 315 and 515, running firmware 10.4.1.6.
- 200 APs deployed across the network.
- Radio settings:
- 2.4GHz: 9 dBm - 15 dBm
- 5GHz: 15 dBm - 21 dBm
- Channels and power settings are on automatic mode in Aruba Central.
- VLANs: Multiple VLANs in use. The office VLAN, which runs Zoom, has QoS policies configured on Cisco switches.
- QoS on Aruba Central: No gateway is used, so I haven't applied QoS directly there.
Troubleshooting So Far:
- Driver Updates: I updated some users' laptop Wi-Fi drivers, and this improved performance in some cases, but not all.
- Roaming Alerts: Insights in Aruba Central show many roaming alerts, but the issue also occurs with users who are stationary at their desks.
- OS Impact: The issue is affecting Windows devices specifically.
- Ekahau Pro Access: I have access to Ekahau Pro, but I'm not sure what to look for that might help diagnose this issue.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem or has recommendations on what to check next? Should I be adjusting power levels manually, limiting certain roaming behaviors, or analyzing specific metrics in Ekahau?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, you are not providing enough information for a calculated guess i.e. are the users inside a meeting room when they experience these issues?
Is the AP inside the same room?
If the AP is outside the room, try and use 2.4Ghz as 5Ghz may not penetrate the room if walls are concrete/glass for example.
Do you use different VLANS for Voice/Video etc on the wireless?
Seen similar issues where the device drivers are out of date and resulting in "sticky client" scenarios where dBm loss is too much to sustain a voice/video call.
If you have access to Ekakahu Pro, I suggest you model different scenarios.

Hello, Airheads Community!
I'm experiencing intermittent issues with Zoom on a network managed by Aruba Central. Users report connection drops and instability during video and audio calls, but this only happens on Wi-Fi. On the wired network, there are no issues, so it doesn't seem to be a LAN or uplink problem.
Current setup:
- Infrastructure: Aruba 515 APs managed via Aruba Central
- Current configuration:
- 5GHz channels set to 40 MHz
- DMO (Dynamic Multicast Optimization) enabled
- SSID configured to prioritize voice/video traffic
- Monitoring via Aruba Central Insights
I have reviewed events in Aruba Central but haven't found a clear root cause yet. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Are there recommended configurations to improve Zoom performance over Wi-Fi and reduce these disconnections?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
