ClearPass license activation failure.
Experiencing ClearPass license activation failure with the error "License could not be activated" and noticed the below warning in the ClearPass system event viewer.
This issue is observed after the certificate renewal of online license activation server.
The ClearPass server's existing code(internal trust) did not match the trust chain of the new certificate of the online activation server and resulted in license activation failure.
ClearPass team have released the following patches to update the internal activation server certificate chain to address this issue. These patches can be installed on any of the ClearPass 6.6.x and 6.7.x versions to address this issue.
The above patches can be downloaded online and installed on the server under Administration >> Agents and Software Updates >> Software Updates >> Firmware & Patch Updates.
Note: The above patch do not require server reboot. This issue had already been addressed in ClearPass 6.7.8, so installation of this patch is not needed from 6.7.8 release.
Customers with older versions (6.5.x and below) may open a TAC case to get the license activated online.
Note: ClearPass versions 6.5.x and below are end of support and we strongly recommend upgrading the servers to currently supported versions/firmware.
