Q:

How to access the postgres database of ClearPass using appexternal user id?

A:

1. Login to Clearpass Policy Manager
2. Navigate to "Administration >> Server Manager >> Server Configuration >> Cluster-Wide Parameters (on the right side)"
3. On the Cluster-Wide Parameters window, navigate to "Database" tab
4. Enter a password against "Database user appexternal password" field (see screenshot below)
5. Save configuration

Now on the external PSQL application (example pgAdmin III), we can use the username "appexternal" and the configured password to access the postgres DB on ClearPass.
