RADIUS service fails to start when NAD with local IP is created

Sep 08, 2016 09:12 AM

Problem:

Unable to start Radius service, fails with error:

Failed to start Radius server-Starting cpass-radius-server:[FAILED]

Trying to start the radius server service from CLI fails with below error and does not indicate the reason for failing to start

Diagnostics:

From the radius_config log file we can notice the below error:

Ensure in the list of devices under Configuration->Network->Devices, there is no device added with IP address:127.0.0.1/32

Solution

From the list of devices added under Configuration->Network, please remove device added with IP: 127.0.0.1/32 and then start the radius server service from CLI.

Note: This issue is seen only on ClearPass 6.4.7 and prior versions.
