AP in Mulitple AP Groups

Good Afternoon

We are testing a guest portal and I was wondering how to assign only certain APs to the guest network. The APs are also part of my internal network as well. Any ideas?

Re: AP in Mulitple AP Groups

You create two AP-groups: One Ap-group will only have the virtual AP for your production network. The other AP-group will ONLY have the virtual AP for your guest network. Put the APs that you ONLY want broadcasting your guest network in the latter group.

Re: AP in Mulitple AP Groups

Hi Ed,

An AP can only be in one group at a time, but you can have different groups with different SSIDs advertised by the APs. First add a new group for APs that will advertise the guest network. You can add your current virtual APs (VAPs) to that new group, plus your new guest VAP. Then simply reprovision the APs that need to provide guest access to be a part of that new group. Any AP in that group will advertise both your existing and the new guest SSIDs.

Hope that helps,
