Managing 5406R zl2 on Aruba Central

    Good day, 

     

    Apologies if that has been ask before but please guide me in the right direction. 

     

    I added a 5406R onto aruba central and cannot seem to manage the device from central. I can only view and check variables. When I ssh/telnet/webgui to the switch I cannot configure anything. I can enter as manager and go to configure terminal but can only view and not update or add any configurations. Only when I drop connection to ClearPass I can make changes via the webgui. 

     

    Any advice?

    That switch is able to be managed by Central. Supported Switch Platforms

     

    Once a device is managed by Central, all config changes have to be made via Central.

    But I am unable to manage the switch via Central. The only options I have is
    Overview. When I go to device I only have variables and configuration audit.
    Clicking the settings wheel or cogwheel does nothing on Central. I can
    configure and access my 2540's via central but 2506 is not playing allong

    HI

     

    you can configure basic parameters( VLANs and Trunks etc)via Central GUI and if you want more configuration to add or manage AOS switches you can try templates 

     

    OR 

     

    you can discover AOS-Switches using Airwave and later you can monitor and manage both using SNMP protocols.

    Hi,

     

    I have found the issue.

     

    The 5406R is in a template group.

     

    When I try to move it to another non-template group I get this error:

     

    "Following devices cannot be moved to UI group and can be managed by template group only"

     

    I would like to manage the 5406R the same way as I can manage the 2540

    We've found out the same way as you have, we can't manage items with the GUI once in a template group.
    Now the fun part is removing them from a template group. 

    Then we can't add them to a group without it become a TG because we are stacking the switches. 

    We hope they can get things to be more GUI manageable in this configuration.
