Hi,

I need to rename an access point which is on my dashboard on aruba central but i can't find the path to do it.

Someone can help me ?

Hey there,

head over to the list of your APs and select the AP you want to rename.

Once you selected your AP, hover over the line of the AP until you see the pencil symbol on the right hand side.

Click it to change the AP hostname.

It is strange because I don't have an "edit" button but only a "delete" button.

That is because your AP is offline. I would guess you can only rename it, when it is online.

Having issues as well, this AP is online, but i can't change anything about them. Clicking on the Name on the left makes me "enter" the AP, clicking anywhere else does nothing.

On latest Chrome with no extensions.

When you are in "devices" you have a" setting" button top right and now you can enter in device setting.

I thin you are in "summary" view.

Yep, I think you are right on this one.

Default behavior currently is that the UI jumps back to the "List" view and you might need to toggle "Configuration" (gear symbol top right corner) to edit the hostname.

Would help if you could post your entire window;-)

I can't seem to find a configuration gear.

Have you tried the following, Select the VC in question, then Devices and choose the 'cog' icon. You will then be directed to the Devices Screen, select the 'Access Points' tab which will list the APs. Select the AP and you will see the pencil icon to edit the AP name.

*EDIT* You're latest screenshot shows you are at the 'Site' level and not the Virtual Controller level.

Yeah i've entered the VC now and i see the devices, here, i can see the device i want to get the correct name, but changing it does nothing. The Device name on site level still shows the mac address.

Might be asking the obvious here (and apologies if i am!) but does your account have the correct permissions and have you tried a different browser?

Both me and the IT Director is Account Home and Network Operations Admin.

Just to recap:

1. When you select the group and/or VC in the top left drop-down, you see the list of APs and you can hover over an AP and see the pencil symbol on the right to edit the AP name?
   
   
2. You can edit the AP name in Central
   

    

3. The AP name is NOT updated after you saved it in Central (screenshot 2.)

Is my understanding correct?

What do you see when you look at the Audit Trail after you updated the AP name?

And I think you have to reboot the AP to take effect.

Verify if you have the "pencil" to edit the AP.

Thanks! That solved it. Restarting them gives them a new name... Strange.
