COTD: Is my client sending or receiving wireless prioritized traffic?

Sometimes you need to determine if wifi clients are sending and receiving prioritized traffic over the wireless to and from the access point.  Between the access point and the client is probably the place where QOS is needed for high priority realtime applications like voice, because wireless is a contention-based medium.  Tagging wireless traffic with QOS bits would allow your client to recover sooner from a retry and have the access point service tagged traffic with priority over other best-effort traffic and clients.  One way to figure out if your client is sending or receiving QOS-tagged traffic is using the "show ap debug client-stats <mac address>" command and filter for WMM.

(Aruba7640-US) # show ap debug client-stats 22:13:14:82:ab:1a | include WMM
Tx WMM [BE] 23978
Tx WMM [VI] 1
Tx WMM [VO] 23375
Rx WMM [BE] 26692
Rx WMM [VO] 4265

(Aruba7640-US) # show ap debug client-stats 22:13:14:82:ab:1a | include WMM
Tx WMM [BE] 24038
Tx WMM [VI] 1
Tx WMM [VO] 23375
Rx WMM [BE] 26699
Rx WMM [VO] 4266

(Aruba7640-US) # show ap debug client-stats 22:13:14:82:ab:1a | include WMM
Tx WMM [BE] 24090
Tx WMM [VI] 1
Tx WMM [VO] 23375
Rx WMM [BE] 26706
Rx WMM [VO] 4268

(Aruba7640-US) # show ap debug client-stats 22:13:14:82:ab:1a | include WMM
Tx WMM [BE] 24157
Tx WMM [VI] 1
Tx WMM [VO] 23375
Rx WMM [BE] 26710
Rx WMM [VO] 4270

In the example above, we configured the client to prioritize its Voice traffic (WMM VO), so the counters are only escalating on the RX or from the client, and that is why the TX WMM is not incrementing.  Prioritization from the infrastructure to the client would have to be configured on the infrastructure side.
