Product and Software: This article applies to Aruba 5000 and 6000 chassis and ArubaOS 3.x and 2.x.

Hotswap of supervisor (SUP) card and line card is supported. However, when you have more than one SUP card, the order of removal is important.

Remove and install the cards in this recommend order:

1)    Remove the line card.

2)    Remove the SUP card.

3)    Install the SUP card.

4)    Install the line card.

If the SUP card goes faulty, the line card above that SUP card will be taken over by the another SUP card if it is installed.

Also, if you have cable connected to the line card, it can cause a network loop. So, remove line card first, even you are just replacing the SUP card.
