Question:  Can a different role be set for a username that was created through guest provisioning?

Product and Software: This article applies to all controllers that run ArubaOS 3.x and later.

You cannot set a different role for a username that was created through guest provisioning for a guest account on the controller. Any username that is created through guest provisioning on a controller assumes the default role of "guest" and is created and stored in the internal database of the controller.

To change the role of a username in the internal database:

1) Log in to the WebUI of the controller.

2) Click Configuration > Security > Authentication > Server > Internal DB.

3) Click Modify to the right the username. Click the Role menu and choose the appropriate role from the list.

These steps cannot be done using the guest provisioning username and password. Only an admin username with root rights can make these changes.
