How to fix Virtual Intranet Acccess (VIA) setup wizard ended prematurely in windows operating system?

Jul 04, 2014 03:21 AM

Product and Software: This article applies to all versions of VIA.

VIA installation fails due to exceeding the maximum number of filters allowed, as defined by the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters. Windows clients are hard coded to allow up to 14 filter drivers. By default the MaxNumFilters registry is set to 8. The registry must be modified to the maximum value.

Below is the screenshot when we encounter the issue which displays setup wizard ended prematurely.

Answer :

To manually modify the MaxNumFilters in the windows registry:

1. Click on Windows Start >Run >regedit and modify the file:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters

2. Manually modify the MaxNumFilters to 14.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters = 14

3. After modifying the MaxNumfilters to 14, VIA client will successfully install in the windows client.
