Q:
How can you relate human metaphors towards wireless fundamentals?
Transmitter - The Human voice
Transmit cable loss - Something that reduces the volume of speaking before it can reach anything that might increase it, e.g. tape over one’s mouth
Transmit antenna gain – Something that passively amplifies the voice volume, e.g. a speaker’s cone (a bullhorn would be more of an active transmit amplifier)
Distance – How far apart the origin of the sound is from the hearer’s ear (it gets harder to hear the same volume over greater distances)
Receive antenna gain – Something that passively amplifies the signal received by the hearer, e.g. a hearing trumpet (a hearing aid would be more of an active receive amplifier)
Receive cable loss – Something that reduces the volume heard before it can reach anything that might process it, e.g. wearing ear plugs
Receiver – The Human ear
Receiver sensitivity – The acuteness of the hearer’s hearing
Ambient noise – Anything that might interfere with being able to hear what is spoken, e.g. hearing across a crowded room full of other people speaking loudly
