Environment  :  This article applies to Aruba Mobility Controllers that are part of VOIP deployments.

"Show voice msg-stats" displays voice client message statistics for each client using either Lync ALG, Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP), or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). In this article, we would be understanding various SIP messages that are exchanged between SIP client and a SIP Server.

Below shown is the command output from a controller:
REGISTER:  For registering contact information in SIP server
INVITE, ACK, and CANCEL:  For setting up sessions.
BYE:  For terminating sessions

1XX Provisional -- request received, continuing to process the request.
2XX Success -- the action was successfully received, understood,  and accepted.
3XX Redirection -- further action needs to be taken in order to complete the request.
4XX Client Error -- the request contains bad syntax or cannot be fulfilled at this server.
5XX Server Error -- the server failed to fulfill an apparently valid request.
6XX Global Failure -- the request cannot be fulfilled at any server.

Below image gives us brief glance on how a call is handled between two SIP parties via  SIP Server.
