Question:  Is there an incompatibility of port 1/2, 1/10, and 1/18 of Aruba 800 and 2400 controllers with IBM laptops?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba Mobility Controllers and ArubaOS 2.5 and 3.x.

A known issue with port 1/2, 1/10, and 1/18 of Aruba 800 and 2400 controllers caused them to be not completely compatible with IBM laptops.

If any IBM laptop, like Lenovo X61 and T60, was connected to an Aruba 800 or 2400 controller and it tried to ping anything, one hardware error was seen for every 10 pings, which caused connectivity issues.

Further investigation revealed that the issue was caused by the PoE (Power over Ethernet) polling on these ports and only IBM laptops were affected.

The problem was fixed in the following versions of ArubaOS and later:

•  2.5.6.17
•  3.1.1.30
•  3.3.1.20
•  3.3.2.6
