Below are the recommended settings that needs to be on the vSwitch to use multiple trunk links

  •    vSwitch = NIC Teaming
  •     Load Balancing = “Route Based on IP Hash”
  •     Network Failover Detection = “Link status only”
  •     Notify Switches = “Yes”
  •     Failback = “Yes”
  •     All available adapters are selected as active
  •     vSwitch port group “WLAN Data Network” (connecting to VMC GE 0/0/0) 
  •     VLAN ID = All (4095)
  •     Security
  •     Promiscous Mode = “Accept”
  •     MAC Address Changes = “Accept”
  •     Forged Transmits = “Accept”

Recommended Settings on a HPE 5400 switch:

  •     Port-channel should be configured on the uplink ports to ESXi host
  •     A distributed trunk (mode trunk) should be configured consisting of the two ESXi host ports on the HPE 5400 ArubaOS switch
  •     Default trunk load-balancing mode, Layer-3 based, should be enabled.
