What is the maximum number of associations allowed per AP?

Jul 06, 2014 10:17 AM

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.0 and later.

The max associations setting is configured in the SSID profile. The default value for max associations per SSID is 64.

Each SSID is independent of other SSIDS. One SSID profile can be configured for max clients of 64, another SSID can be configured for max clients of 32, and other SSID profiles can be configured for different limits.

The limit of 64 is a hard limit. If the limit is hit, the Aruba controller will not allow new associations and will send the 802.11 association response with status code 17 that says "Association denied because AP is unable to handle additional associated stations".
