As per the 802.11n standard, wireless clients with 802.11n supported will not connect at n data rate to an SSID that is not secure.

The 802.11n specification does not allow for higher rates using weak encryption such as WEP or TKIP. To gain higher rates, use either an open SSID or WPA2 AES encryption.
