Why does an AP-60 or AP-61 come up as an AM even when the forward mode is set as AP mode?

Jul 05, 2014 10:41 AM

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and versions of ArubaOS under 5.0.0.0.

This problem happens for controllers with the country code for Brazil. Approval for Brazil for AP-61 or AP-60 was done on 10/16/2009. This support needs to be added to ArubaOS. That is the reason these APs do not show up on any channels and come up as AM. These APs on a Brazil controller can be used only for scanning purposes as an AM. They cannot be used to serve the clients.

The following command output is for the respective APs.

(Aruba200) #show ap allowed-channels country-code BR ap-type ap-61

Allowed Channels for AP Type ap-61 Country Code "BR"
----------------------------------------------------
PHY Type Allowed Channels
-------- ----------------
802.11g (indoor)
802.11a (indoor)
802.11g (outdoor)
802.11a (outdoor)

(Aruba200) #show ap allowed-channels country-code BR ap-type ap-60

Allowed Channels for AP Type ap-60 Country Code "BR"
----------------------------------------------------
PHY Type Allowed Channels
-------- ----------------
802.11g (indoor)
802.11a (indoor)
802.11g (outdoor)
802.11a (outdoor)

This problem is a known issue. Engineering is working on it and will integrate it in 5.0.0.0. The bug number is 38644. Patch request number #1734 has been filed for this problem, and it is proposed to be integrated in ArubaOS 3.4.2.1.
