Can an IAP cluster be deployed on the downlink of a Mesh point?

Jun 30, 2014 05:54 PM

Question: Can an IAP cluster be deployed on the downlink of a Mesh point?

Environment         Switch==== IAP Portal ======IAP Point ======IAP cluster 2

This is both possible but has be deployed with caution. This is the design till 3.4.0.2.

The cluster 2 should not be in the same VLAN as that of IAP Mesh point and portal.

If IAP cluster 2 is deployed in the same Native VLAN as point and portal, then the IAPs will keep rebooting with a message as below.

“(00:00:59) Rebooting AP due to uplink ap denied me, from (d8:c7:c8:cb:dc:e8 192.168.111.51)”

So make this work below scenario is recommended.

Switch==== IAP Portal ======IAP Point (1-Native VLAN, 10,15,45,100 -are other allowed VLANs) ====== Switch (Native VLAN 10, 15,45,100 - are other allowed vlans)IAP cluster 2

One more condition is that both IAP cluster 2 and Mesh points should not have the same SSID serviced/ configured.
