Configurable address format for MAC Authentication

Apr 05, 2015 03:52 AM

Environment- This article applies to Instant Access Point running 4.0 and later

Answer- Prior 4.0 release, if IAP integrated with RADIUS server for MAC authentication, the customer must ensure its existing RADIUS server database match with IAP’s expected format i.e. each MAC address must be in lower case without any delimiters, for example - “0027107867ac”. For customers maintaining large MAC address databases becomes very difficult with such incompatible format.

Starting 4.0, IAP allows the user to configure delimiter as well as upper/lower case support, so the IAP would be more compatible with existing RADIUS deployment. This feature is limited to wireless client MAC authentication and not yet supported for wired clients.
