Update 2019-05-16:
The behavior below has changed:
1. By default IAP tries to reach pool.ntp.org and sync the time
2. NTP can be configured manually in two ways(DHCP option 42 OR manuallly under system tab)
3. If pool.ntp.org is not reachable then IAP gets time synced from Activate
4. If activate is also not reachable then image build time is used sync the clock on the IAP

Original Article:
Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba Instant platforms and versions.
To ensure time synchronization for the Aruba Instant AP (IAP) in an Instant Cluster, an NTP server can be used. The server configuration option is available in the Date & Time option on the Basic tab.
IAPs contact the NTP server and sync time as a process of boot up. So when an NTP server is configured on an existing IAP network, the time would not be synced until the APs are rebooted. Each IAP would individually sync time with the NTP server, that is, time is not pushed like other configuration from the master IAP to other APs.
As of the current release (5.0.3.0-1.1.0.0), the APs do not contact the NTP server for updates after they come up.
