Symptoms

IAP rebooting with the message "TPM driver running in 3204 mode". How to fix that error?

Diagnosis

This Article applies IAP as per the following details:

Model                    : IAP 104, 105
Code:                    : 6.1.2.3 - 2.x.y.z
Serial number        : BT0308241 and BT0309240 or BT0553579 and higher

IAP reboots continuously with combination of following messages :

1. TPM driver running in 3204 mode

2. Testing TPM... BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!

Solution

New version of TPM component was released in AP mainboards. But this isn't compatible with old codes and can sometimes cause errors.

we upgraded the controller to latest version from AP boot.

Steps:

a. Run the TFTP software on your pc ( you have to open appropriate ports on the pc firewall ). Download the os file from the support site and put it in TFTP folder. ( eg Filename: ArubaInstant_Orion_6.2.1.0-3.4.0.0_39086 )
b. On the AP, enter Apboot mode. Then execute the following commands

# purge
# dhcp
# ping < ip address of the tftp server >

if it is not reachable, please verify the ip connectivity.

# upgrade os 1 <IP addr of tftp server>: ArubaInstant_Orion_6.2.1.0-3.4.0.0_39086
Upgrade successful.

# purge
Erasing flash...Writing to flash...done

# setenv os_partition 1
# save
# boot.
