Hi, I have installed into my network 4 ap model AP-305, but only one show always system status led color "Amber-solid", i don't know why!

The installation guide show this state how "Device Ready: Power safe mode (802.3af) ".

do you know how this ap show always this state?

The ap is connected to Switch HPE OfficeConnect 1920 48G PoE+ (370W), and port show power to 17%.

    can you help me, please?

Do you have LLDP enabled on those switchports?  That is typically how the AP negotiates higher power on that port.

Can you share a show tech from one of the IAPs in this state?

That status can be due to operating in 802.3af reduced power mode.

Check this thread and this section of datasheet:

    will tell you more!

It is a limitation when use 802.3af. It reduces performance but stills operating.

    I saw this before.

Please check if LLDP  is enabled on the port where AP is connected.

Probably you might have to enable it at interface level.

    Hi,

From the logs that you have attached,

    Power Status
    ------------
    Item Value
    ---- -----
    Power Supply : POE-AF
LLDP Power : Successfully negotiated at 17.0W
    Current Operational State : USB port enabled;

    From 300 series datasheet:

    http://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/ds/DS_AP300Series.pdf

    - Unrestricted functionality with 802.3at PoE

    - When using IPM, the AP may enter power-save mode with reduced functionality when powered by an 802.3af PoE source (see details on Intelligent Power Monitoring elsewhere in this datasheet) -

-Without IPM, the USB port is disabled when the AP is powered by an 802.3af PoE source •

-Maximum (worst-case) power consumption: 13W (PoE) or 11W (DC) - -Excludes power consumed by external USB device (and internal overhead); this could add up to 6.5W (PoE) or 5.5W (DC) for a 5W/1A USB device •

Hi Singla, ok, but whit my AP is it possibile for you disable IPM?

I have installed a hp 1920 48 port switch dedicated only for my ap, and the power is not my problem!! in this switch i use only 4 port... :-)

I have ap 305 whith this version: 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.0_57768

    1. i am checking internally if there is a possible method to debug LLDP on IAP.

Couple of show commands that can be useful to share on IAP are (they are not in show tech):

    show ap debug lldp counters

show ap debug lldp neighbor interface eth0

    show ap debug lldp state

Are you connecting both ports or one port to switch?

    2. I have an IAP 325 on the same software working on 802.3at (no orange light) with a aruba MAS S2500.

    3. Can we look at 1920 once again and verify LLDP is correct. Please follow the steps here:

    Hi ,

As you have mentioned , only 1 IAP is showing status light to be amber-solid & other 3 are working fine.

Please attach the show tech from the working IAP.

    hi

i am a new to the community - can someone just confirm (or not) that an AP 305 running in power save mode does mean reduced performance ? I have read the 305 datasheet but it is not 100% clear to me.

    Many thanks

When the AP-305 is in power-save mode (802.3af POE, IPM feature disabled), the only restriction is that the USB port is disabled.
