    Hi,

Can someone help please, I am using Aruba IAP-115 (APIN0115) and trying to add more AP-135 access point but unable to connent them to IAP-115. Can I use AP-135 with IAP-115 and if yes please provide some instruction. I do not have any other controller.

    Thanks,

    Jacob.

You cannot.  A device that shipped as an AP cannot be turned into an IAP.

    Hi,

Thanks for you reply. No I do not want to convert AP-135 to IAP. I have installed IAP-115 and want to use this as a virtual master controller as I do not have any othetr controller. So want to confirm if this is possible to IAP-115 as a Virtual controller to configure other AP-135 access point on the same LAN.

    Thanks,

    Jacob.

The AP-135 cannot participate as a Virtual Cluster or be controlled by an IAP-115...

    Hi,

Is there any AP model which can be controlled through IAP-115 and I can add as a virtual cluster please.

    Thanks,

    Jacob.

    Jacob,

APs used to come in two types: AP (Campus AP for use with controller) and IAP (Instant AP that can cluster together and form a virtual controller together).

As explained before, you cannot mix AP with IAP as the AP needs a physical controller. If you have a physical controller you can use either the AP or convert the IAP, which might cause some confusion; but this appears not the case here.

If you have an IAP-115, you can add another Instant AP to that, given that it runs the same firmware version. Check here to see the maximum version of firmware that can run on an AP. If you had an IAP-135 (with the I in front), it would work. If you buy another IAP-115 (though that seems to be end-of-life), or IAP-215/315 (or 205/205H/305/225/325/335), you should be able to build a cluster. Please ask your Aruba partner if the IAP you want to purchase can run together with the existing IAP-115.
