So I've got a IAP-305 that auto-joined my controller network when I was trying to do a WAN IAP update and flashed itself to a non-instant image. Because the IAP 300s don't have a standard console plugin I'm not sure how I'm going to flash this back to an Instant image. Does anyone know the procudure? My controller OS is 8.1.0.2 if that makes a difference.

You can use the reset button, should be covered in the installation guide.

Thank you for the quick reply - however that reset procedure is for a factory default settings - it does not revert the installed image on the device back to IAP. I have attempted this and it still retains the controller based image on the device.

The reset button should honestly revert an Instant AP back to an Instant AP if it was converted to a Campus AP.

If it does not work, a TAC case should be opened to determine why.

If you can get the controller to recognize the AP and the AP is up, you can also use the AP redeploy command on the controller to flash it back to an IAP (UAP) in ArubaOS 8.x and above:

    ap redeploy controller-less ap-name <name of ap>

    Colin,

Thanks for the alternative suggestion - I have attempted this but was surprised when the CLI command 'ap redeploy' was not available. I'm running an Aruba7205-US on version 8.1.0.2 - do you happen to know if the command was updated to something else? [ap ?] provides the following output - no redeploy option is available:

    #ap ?
    arm                                  Show ARM information
    ble-init-action                   Initiate BLE action
clarity-synthetic               Convert AP to clarity synthetic mode for moni
consolidated-provision    Get all APs consolidated provision
    debug                              Debug an AP
    gap-db                            GAP DB related messages
image-preload                Configure downloading of new AP images in
    multizone                        Multizone commands
    packet-capture                Packet Capture commands
    process                           AP's process
randomize-channel         Instruct AP to change to a random channe
    regulatory                       Regulatory commands
    spectrum                        Spectrum Monitor Commands
test                                 Run test command on AP

During the TAC call we were able, after a few attemps, to get it to revert back after to IAP by: holding the reset button while powered off - then plugging in PoE - waiting 10 seconds - releasing the reset button - waiting for device to boot.
