    We have installed an Aruba mesh system with Instant 114 IAP's.

    We have installed HP switches on the MESH portal end and HP Switches connected to the

    MESH point. The customer has spanning tree enabled on their network.

    What they are finding is that they are getting BPDU starvation messages on the HP switches connected to the MESH point. Their is a ROOT re-election as a result of this.

    However the BPDUs must be getting through because the ROOT switches back to to the original ROOT. So it looks like the BPDUs are making it sometimes. Anyone had experience of this?

    The switches hanging off the mesh point are completely isolated, they are not connected to the LAN anywhere else? If the switches off the mesh point are LAN connected somehow, that will have to be corrected.

     

    Are they statically configuring a root bridge (on the LAN side) or are they just letting the election occur based on mac address? If the latter, they need to manually configure the LAN switches (off the portal) to be the root bridge, or disable STP on the mesh point. You don't want the root bridge to be a group of switches hanging off a mesh link.

    in answer to your questions:-

    1.the mesh point HP switches exist in isolation.

    2.The root bridge has been manually configured LAN side.
