    Hello,

I have several new IAP-315s running firmware version 8.6.0.2_73583. I need to connect them with VLANs with a few IAP-205s (but mostly IAP-215s, 224s, and 225s) running version 6.4.4.8-4.4.2.10_62611.

If I upgrade the 205s' firmware to the latest it will take, will the 315s work with them, or do not I need to try to downgrade the 315s?

I have it all separated into three zones each with an IAP as a virtual controller in each zone. I want to make an IAP-315 act as the virtual controller once I am finished. Right now the firmware difference is the big issue.

I am open to any and all ideas to make them all work together.

    Thanks!!!

As long as all of the APs in the IAP cluster are running the same OS version, you should be good to go.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that the versions "should" be compatible, but if I install the latest (and last) FW version on the 205s will they be compatible with the FW version on 315s, even though the FW versions will be different?

If they "must" be the same version, then there is no way the 205s and the 315s will work together. Is that correct?

All IAPs in a cluster must be running the same firmware version.

It is not correct that IAP-205 and IAP-315 can not work in the same cluster. Running firmware version 6.5.4.x supports both AP platforms.

    Dustin's response is more complete.

The AP-205s can not run 8.x code. The highest you could run is in the 6.5.x range. The IAP-315 would have to be on the same version. The Aruba Support Portal can help you narrow down a version that would work on both.

That sounds like it might be my only solution at this point since I can't replace the 205s right now.

Would it be possible to verify 6.5.4.3_61959 is the final version for the 205s? I just need another set of eyes on it to be sure. I greatly appreciate your help!!!

6.5.4.16_74160 is the latest build in the 6.5.4.x train.

Ok. I will upgrade the 205s and downgrade the 315s until I can get the 205s replaced.

Many thanks for your help to everyone!!!!!!!!!

One more question - I am not seeing a link for 6.5.4.16_74160. Can you please point me to it?
