    Hey to everybody,

is it possible that the whole managment traffic (getting new firmware, sync with NTP) done withe the IP that are given to the VC?

    In more detail:

I gave the VC a fixed IP-Address and the IAPs getting the IP via DHCP. Now I would define some firewall rules for the outgoing (Internet) managment traffic. What I see is that the actual VC is acting with the IAP-IP.

Maybe I have a lack of knowledge how the VC-IP work, can you please fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

If the IAP cluster is being managed via Airwave or via its local UI, then all https traffic is sourced from/to the VC ip address.

    Dear Seth,

thank you for your quick response.

If I am working on the UI that is true, but if the IAP makes time synchronisation via NTP it uses the IAP-IP from the VC not the VC-IP. Is there any possiblity at this point to act with the VC-IP?

    Best regards,

I don't think that is possible.  Also, for firmware (if you are using Airwave in particular), the following workflow occurs:

    • Airwave tells the VC to upgrade.
    • The VC tells its APs to go and fetch their images from AirWave.
    • Each AP fetches its own image from AirWave.
