Client does not connect to Instant when MAC authentication is enabled

When I setup MAC authentication for my smartphones on my Aruba Instant, it does not allow me to connect to the IAP, if I only allow http, https and dns in my access rules.

If I select allow any to all destinations - it will connect but I want to limit access only to the internet.

What protocol should I allow for mac authentication to take place.

    Thanks

    Trevor

Are those the only 3 rules set to allow? Do you have everything else set to deny?

    Hi Jamie,

Yes If I set everything else to deny, it will not allow my smartphone to connect.

I am assuming there is a protocol I need to set to allow for mac authentication to take place between the smartphone and the aruba internal database.

The mac address for the phone is set in Instant internal database.

Make sure you also allow dhcp and dns above your other rules.

Authentication happens before any rules are applied.  I suspect what is happening is that you can't get an ip address.
