Sure!  You login to the Instant UI:

    1. Click on Maintenance in the top right

    2. Click on the Convert Tab

    3. Click on the selection to convert to a CAP (Campus AP)

    4. Enter the IP address of the controller you wish to terminate to

That's it!  If you'd like to convert BACK to an IAP, then simply issue a hardware reset (paperclip on the bottom of the unit).

    Hi,

I think this is related with image versions...

In order to convert an IAP to RAP, Controller should have minimum 6.1 Image version and also there is a minimum 4.1 IAP version

    Regards

    Did you disable Terminal Access?

    Make sure it is enabled:

then there is a good chance something is blocking your ssh access in between client and IAP. are they in the same network?

but still even with the GUI you can convert, look at the 2nd post.

If you have access to the serial-console of the IAP you can also try:

    1) Connect serial console

    2) Power up AP

    3) Press <ENTER> to interupt the boot (and enter AP-boot)

    4) For AP-105, type: upgrade os 1.1.1.1:mips32.ari (where 1.1.1.1 is the IP of the controller)

    5) After the image is loaded, type: boot

For this to work TFTP should be allowed towards the controller.

The AP should fine the controller, presuming the AP is either in the same L2 domain as the controller or if a DNS record for "aruba-master.DNS-SUFFIX" is present. If not available you could set a variable for the controller via "setenv master 1.1.1.1" in AP-boot.

Make sure the IAP can communicate with the controller. SSH to the IAP and try pinging the controller.

    Hi Guys

I tried that to conver an IAP 105 to CAP and says status not available and no conversion occurs.

    Do you know why?

    Regards

Make sure that IAP and controller both have same regulatory domain.

    Hi,

We had the same problem. Our DHCP server was getting an error and was giving to the Aruba AP an address which was being used by other device. We exclude this address on the dhcp server, reset the AP and everything worked fine. You can also try configure a static IP address in the AP.
