    Hello all

I have a IAP 325, And for the life of me cannot set it up.

I get to the app where it is looking for access point and it cannot find it. The power light blinks green. I have reset it. Should I plug it directly into switch or through modem router. I'm in Australia. So we use NBN.

    Hi,

There is no app for Instant Access Point. There is for "instanton", and please keep in mind, it will not work with Instant APs.

This is what you should do to get it up and working

    1) Turn on the AP (using poe switch or poe injector or ac adapter)

    2) Make sure E0 port is connected to the switch or modem router

    3) Make sure DHCP server is running and IAP-325 is able to get the IP alongwith default gateway

    4) Wait for like 10-15 minutes (just to be sure), you will get either "instant" or "Setmeup" open ssid to connect with

    5) Once you see this SSID, connect to it

    6) Now open the browser and type "instant.arubanetworks.com" and it will redirect you to the VC (Virtual Controller) page

Let us know if you are able to do it, or where you are facing the problem

Exactly what Ronin101 said but also do make sure you check the obvious and that the AP is actually an IAP variant. You can confirm this by checking the sticker on the back says IAP-325 verses an AP-325.

Catches a lot of people out

    Hi,

Agreed :). Also you can look for the part number JW325A which is for IAP-325.

Hello Craig, I should of been clearer. I currently have linksys velop 3 nodes set up as mesh wifi. I would like to use the aruba with same internet connection, (Is this possible)?

I could run a ethernet cable direct to IAP via a switch.

    Really apricate any help

Lets just concentrate on the basics, i.e getting access to the GUI or CLI of the IAP. Yes, you can connect it to the switch via an ethernet cable to obtain POE/DHCP.

Is the AP an actual IAP model or AP?

Do you have sufficient POE to it?

Can you confirm it obtains an IP address?

What are you proposing doing once the IAP is configured?

    Hi,

Once you have your IAP configured, you can simply connect E0 port (with or
without a switch in between) to LAN port of your Velop device. The port of
Velop should be leasing DHCP (if its acting as the router). Once you have
it, you can either create a separate SSID, or the same SSID that currently
is being broadcast. Roaming wont be seamless though.

The power supply is model JX990A, is this suitable?

    Hi,

Can you confirm if your model is IAP-325 or AP-325 by checking on the label?

    Hi,

Hey Ronin, I have it working now, it's plugged into the ethernet port of the velop, I can connect to it via wifi, although the speed is about half of what is getting with the velop.

    Hi,

Getting low speed is understandable and mainly because of following reasons

    1) You are running 325 in conjunction with Velop (not sure how many units
but usually there are 3). If for some reason 325 is able to listen all 3
non-overlapping channels, there is a chance that 325 will revert to lower
TX power and try to find least congested channel
    2) Having multiple brands of APs/Routers in a small vicinity always lead to
performance issues, there will be way too many collisions and retries so
unless you are trying to cover some grey area (dark spot where coverage
from velop is less or non-existent), dont use 325 or any other vendor.
    3) APs from multiple vendors cannot work in harmony due to unlicensed
nature of 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. Multiple brand APs cannot be coordinated.
