We are having 7 numbers of IAP 103 with FW 6.5.4.12

Now we procured 6 numbers of IAP 303.

How to add this new IAP 303 to the existing cluster with IAP 103?

You will not be able to, the latest released supported by IAP103 is Instant 4.2

An IAP303 requires a minimum firmware version of 8.3. Due to the version mismatches these will not be part of the same IAP cluster.

    Thanks

    What can I do?

Now I am having 6 numbers of IAP 303 with me.
Is it possible to add this IAPs as standalone APs?
In addition to this we are already having 12 Nos of IAP92. But the limitation with IAP92 is the cluster size (max 16). These IAPs are running in a separate vlan.
Is it good have a Wireless controller for these IAPs
    IAP 92 - 12
    IAP 103 - 7
    IAP 303 - 6
    Thanks

You can create a separate cluster with the IAP303. I would use this in a separate RF domain such as a different building. If not you will need to consider upgrading/replacing the IAP103 with a 8.3x supported IAP.

    Thanks

Can we go for a aruba wireless controller to manage the IAP 92, IAP 103 and IAP 303?

You certainly can however you will need to make sure that each AP supports the AOS version as well. If you take a look at the EOL URL previously provided you can see that the AP92 will only support up to ArubaOS 8.2 and your AP303 requires ArubaOS 8.3 at a minimum.

    Yes

IAP 92 will not support the latest AOS like 8.3 as you mentioned.

For IAP 103 I have to check.

Is it possible to Upgrade the IAP 103 from Instant 6.5.4.12.x.x.x to Instant 8.3.x.x

    or vice-versa?

No. The datasheets will provide you with the minimum requirement of
firmware for an IAP and the EOL/EOS URL will provide you with the latest
    supported firmware if announced.

    IAP 303 - Minimum OS - ArubaOS 6.5.1.0, 8.1.0.0 and Aruba InstantOS 4.3.1.0

    IAP 103 - Minimum OS - ArubaOS 6.4.0.0 and Aruba InstantOS 4.1.0.0

Take a look at the below, IAP303 minimum is 8.3

    Yes.

    Now I am totally confused.

    What I can do?

    What is the solution?

    WLC?

What is your main objective or reasoning for obtaining the 303's?

No specific reason. Just to extend the Wi-Fi facilty in our campus.

If this is to be a Multi-Building Layout within a Contiguous RF Domain then Aruba recommends that you deploy the IAPs as a single cluster.

If this is a Multi-Building Layout with a Non-Continuous RF Domain then each building could have its own single cluster.

So from your point of view you will have a split cluster and 2 location of management if you have a 103/303 set of clusters. If these are sharing the same RF domain then there will be an increase in contention for the medium as well.

I am really sorry for the late reply. Officail commitments...

I am not aware that of RF Domain.

The IAP are not in single building. Located in different buildings

Can plz forward link about RF Domain???

In this conversation "RF Domain" refers to your expectations for overlapping coverage.

If you need to have one radio environment (RF Domain) with all of your APs in overlapping cells, then you have a bit of a problem.

If you can make seperate areas, for instance one where the AP92 operate, another where the AP103 operate and a third where the AP303 operate you'll have the most work to do managing them, but the easiest time managing the coverage and client experience.

Knowing nothing of your actual deployment or radio environment (so my advice will almost certainly be flawed) here's what I would do:

Manage all three AP families separately in patches - all of each type near one another on one area and the next type in the next area etc. Then start replacing the oldest APs with the same model as the newest until that oldest model is gone.

The adjacent but separate clusters will mean that clients will have to roam oddly, but the clients I have experisnce with seem to handle it well enough in my environment.

The only reason I would suggest this is on the assumption that you'll get budget to replace older hardware - otherwise you're just going to have too many clusters to manage over time.

Can we manage the IAP 103 and IAP 303 with a controller?

yes you can manage them with a controller.

    Can you suggest a model?

    check the datasheet

The 7005/7008 can handle up to 16 APs, the 7010 will go up to 32

At this point you should really go talk to your support team (Partner or Aruba Sales) to go over your needs and future plans.
