IAP-115 Drop Ethernet Connection for a few seconds.

    Hi, we have a Instant setup with 91 Access points, 10 of these are in one building and randomly drop and pick up the Ethernet connection the APs that drop are all the IAP-115 model. We have a few IAP-215 and IAP-315 as well which work fine.

     

    Aruba 6.5.4.9_67129

     

    These have been split them between two switches with different uplinks to try and solve this issue. No luck. The APs work fine in different buildings. Here's the System Log...

    VC is beconing as expected ALL the time. Switches are UPS supported.

     

    Any ideas?

    You should make the 315 the preferred master:

     

    Look for "Manual Provisioning of Master Instant AP" here:  https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/Instant_83_WebHelp/Web_Help_Index.htm#Instant_UG/CustomizeIAPParams/Master_Election_Protocol.htm

     

    The 215 and 315 have more capacity to be the master than the iap-115 does.

    The master is an IAP-315.

    Do you have any other devices on the management VLAN besides the Instant APS?  You would only want the instant APs on the same management VLAN at this cluster size.  The instant APS rely on broadcasts to communicate with each other...adding more broadcasts could create more broadcast traffic and disrupt communications.

    Only the APs are on the management VLAN. I packet sniffed on a mirrored port to a faulting AP, On the management VLAN only AP traffic and broadcasts is showing up. Have 115s ever had any issues with noise? This is a newly extended building with many eco frendly gizmos like LED lighting and Solar panels.

    It would open a TAC case to pursue it further, or others can chime in. I am not aware of any specific issues.
