I have added some new 305s to my network. I found the IP via DHCP and tried to log in. The web interface automatically switches to my IAP-225, which does not see the other new 305s.

IAP-225 is at the current config ArubaInstant_Centaurus_6.5.4.6_63925

The new 305s are out-of-box with unknown version.

So, I am assuming two resolutions.

1 - Buy the proprietary console cable, (More$ - annoying because of the insignificant cost of a free cable in comparison to te product cost.)

2- temorarily unplug the IAP-225, log into the web interface of the 305 and update to ArubaInstant_Ursa_6.5.4.6_63925, then disconnect the 305, reconnect the 225 and verify Web interface, reconnect 305 to see if it is now recognized.

Is that bout it for options?

If you can in a separate network upgrade the IAP-305 to be the same version as the IAP-225 then introduce it into the cluster. Also check you have auto-join for IAP's enabled within the VC if not you'll need to add the MAC of the IAP-305.

Sadly, I don't have a separate network handy.

But this goes along the lines of temporarily removing the 225 from the network.

Hey, take a look at the below in regards to upgrading the IAP.

    http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/Instant_40_Mobile/Advanced/Content/UG_files/Basic_conf_tasks/Firmware_Image_Server_in.htm

Easiest way is to use a tftp server (https://archive.codeplex.com/?p=tftpd64) in the same subnet as the IAP and upload the image this way.
