Hello, i have problem with instant Aruba AP. Our customer have network Aruba Virtual controler with 4 * 205. This AP have firmware 6.4.4.8.- 4.2.4.6.58505.

I have add new AP IAP 305 with firmware 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.2.

When I connected 305 to the same VLAN, it has an IP address but I do not see it in management.
What is the correct procedure and the firmware version to make it work properly?
    Will not lose network configuration?
How do different types of firmware (taurus - 205, Ursa 305) solve?

    Thank you

    Radek Rysan

The IAP205 will support 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.2 however as it is a mixed-class IAP environment you will need to ensure that the both images are available.

The easiest option is to upgade the IAP205 to 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.2 then add the IAP305 to the same vlan. Upgrading the IAP will cause a system outage (all AP's will reboot).

FYI upgrading a mixed class IAP environment.

    Thank you answer.
Can I run firmware from 6.4.4.8 to 6.5.1.0 direct? Or over version?
    Can I download firmware 6.5.1.0  - Standart relace - here http://support.arubanetworks.com/LifetimeWarrantySoftware/tabid/121/DMXModule/661/EntryId/25165/Default.aspx ?

    screen name Aruba download.jpg
Can I run firmware from Maintenance - Firmware - Manual - Image file - Select the file, I will use the downloaded file?

    screen name Aruba firmware.jpg

    Thank
    Thank you

There can be no problem in the new firmware and connection to IAP 305, in this:
Here one of the AP 205 installed
HP 205 Instant 802.11ac (WW) AP SN: CN62HH85BN

    Hello,

after upgrade firmware to version 6.5.1.0 we see AP205 and 305 in group on virtual controler.

However, the configuration of the entire AP network is default factory.
We have a backup version of version 6.4.4.8. After upload backup configuration and restart APs is default config again.

    Please help.

Was the IAP305 left plugged into the VLAN when you upgraded the IAP205's? Its possible that the IAP305 (with a blank config) elected itself as the master whilst the IAP205 were upgrading and rebooting. The IAP205 would've then found the elected IAP305 with the blank config and sync'd this out.

Did you take the backup from the 6.4.x version? You will need to either restore to the same version or manually copy/paste the config file over.

Try checking  the logs (#show log system) to see if there was any errors.

Did you mean to return the firmware 6.4.4.8?
Is there any conversion from backup config 6.4 to config 6.5?
6,5 firmware cannot read my 6.4 backup config.
    Thanks.

There's no tool as such to my knowledge, sometimes in the past i've re-named the instant.cfg (the backup file) to instant.txt, then removed the line below (yours might have a different version number). I then re-named it to .cfg again and uploaded to the VC.

    version 6.4.2.0-4.1.1

Or you could try this, however it is slightly longer.

    - separate a single IAP from cluster.

    - Downgrade to 6.4 version.

    - Restore backup.

    - Upgrade to required version.

    - Export backup

    - Restore backup to remaining upgraded IAP cluster.
