I would like  to know if you guys have seem this happening... it looks like  a bug to me...

Here is the Scenario that works
AP for example in a network 192.168.1.0/24  i got a DHCP server on that network
The AP gets its address via DHCP everything works correctly there

Scenario in which it doesnt work.

The AP is on the network 192.168.1.0/24
The DHCP Server is on the network 192.168.2.0/24
On the switch i got an ip helper  pointing to the DHCP server which is on the 192.168.2.0/24 network
The ip helper WORKS correctly because i tested it with my computer and my computer get the DHCP IP address.

As you see in the booting process
    AG7240: done cfg2 0x7115 ifctl 0x10000 miictrl
    ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): bond0: link becomes ready
Picked up default IP a9fe7695, rand 7695
    Default IP is ready

    DHCP timed out.
    Default IP comes up.
ip_time_handler: Got ip and packets on bond0 Started master election 4-0
    DHCP timed out.
    Default IP comes up.
    169.254.118.149 255.255.0.0
    Starting Webserver

You see it gets the default ip addresss 169.x.x.x

Now if i reboot the AP and enter in APboot MODE and do this

    apboot> dhcp
    eth0 up: 100 Mb/s full duplex
    DHCP broadcast 1
    DHCP IP address: 172.28.1.11
    DHCP subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP def gateway: 172.28.1.1
    DHCP DNS server: 172.16.3.215
    DHCP DNS domain: carloslab.local
    apboot>

You see it gets the IP...

I just want to confirm is this is a bug, or if im doing something incorrectly.

I think Aruba Support @ 1800-WIFILAN can help you confirm if this is a bug or not.

    Hi NightShade,

I try to change the Ip helper forward delay to 0 (default 3), It works for me, but It does not make sense, with same delay time can forward some discover packets success, Other discover packets failed.

    -> show ip helper

     Ip helper :   Forward Delay(seconds) = 0,

Max number of hops     = 5,

    Relay Agent Information            =  Disabled,

    DHCP Snooping Status               =  Disabled

DHCP Snooping Bypass Opt82-Check   =  Disabled,

DHCP Snooping Opt82 Format  =  Base MAC,

     DHCP Snooping Opt82 String  =  00:e0:b1:c6:a2:c2,

DHCP Snooping Binding DB Status    =  Disabled,

      PXE support                        =  Disabled,

Forward option     = standard       Vlan Number NA   Bootup Option Enable   Bootup Packet Option DHCP       Forwarding Address :         10.65.77.2   UDP Relay on Default VRF = Enabled

May be you need to install a sniffer on the network of your client to know who equipment send the IP 172.x.x.x. (Ip conflict)  Also you can help you the IMC software with the NTM module (Demo) to resolved this issue. May be has another DHCP server on the network.
