    So, I can upgrade it to this firmware version but they don't support AppRF, right?!

    As the release notes says , don't upgrade the 93/92 to v4.1 since is not supported.

    I wonder if and at what firmware version the IAP-104/105 will not be supported.

    Nothing is planned for the moment.  Only the IAP-9x end of support is known.......it was a low-end / low-cost AP and was running out of resources.

    Hi Marcus,

    Which version of code do we download for IAP-103? I assume it is the same Orion version as the 93,105?

    Can you confirm? If so can the support site be updated?

    For 103, please download the image file with the name ?Pegasus? in it.

    Thanks,

    What is the minimum Airwave version required to support IAP 4.1. (not the IAP gui support)

    With AMP 7.7.10, I only see the VC and not the APs when it is connected to AIrwave. I have seen this similar when using 4.0 on AMP 7.6

    Does it require 8.0?

    EDIT: small edits

    AirWave 8.0 is required for IAP 4.1.  The IAP GUI Config (IGC) and AppRF display in AW, however, will not be supported for 4.1 until AW 8.1 is released which is 3 - 6 weeks out.

    Unfortunately, the Release Notes and Supported Devices documentation are not really clear on this but I confirmed it with engineering.

    That's what I figured. Thanks Marcus for confirming.

    I don't want to be to be insistent, but I do this question because in the USER GUIDE of the new version i see what I attach inthe file.

    Thanks!

    ~~~ EDIT ~~~ I listed the wrong version number in my post earlier.  It is correct now.....
    The IAP-9x is -not- supported in 4.1.0.0 at all.   Support for the IAP-9x will be added in 4.1.01 but with the limitations noted and they will not have AppRF in any form.  Also, v.4.1.x.x will be the last version for the IAP-9x.
    Hi Marcus,
    I have read the release notes but I still have a doubt: it is possible to upgrade to this version the IAP-92/93? Or they only don't support the AppRF tools?
    Thanks,
    Massimo
    Any time frame on when v4.1 will be supported for deployment via the Cloud Wi-Fi?  Is it possible to touch each device and update them or would that not be supported at this time?
    One other thing the Access Control based on Web Category wondered how that list is updated or does that require OpenDNS licenses to function?
    I don't believe it requires an OpenDNS license for that.
    Aruba Central will be updated to fully support IAP v.4.1 over the next few weeks.
    There are now two web-content filtering techniques in IAP and it can be easy to confuse the two: OpenDNS and the new web-categorization (uses BrightCloud on the backend).
    OpenDNS requires a subscription directly with OpenDNS.
    The web-categorization feature of AppRF will require an IAP feature license.
    Keep in mind that IAP AppRF is two parts: native DPI that can identify ~1,500 applications + web-categorization. The native DPI portion of AppRF does not require anything and is free.
    License for Instant? How will that work?
  • 23.  RE: Instant v.4.1 Released!
    Posted Jun 13, 2014 08:53 AM
    Will the feature license be perpetual or a yearly subscription for the web categories?
    Will this stay just with the IAP line or will the Controller route get this as well?
    Was looking forward to the AppRF by itself but the AppRF with Web Categories would be nice.
    Hello Marcus
    How cpu and memory intensive is the APPRF on the instant APS?
    Im just trying to imaging the big picture of it on a production enviroment which has plenty instants APs in a cluster
    How we can know well we can turn it without issues...
    And when we can know well we CANT turn it because it will bring us issues with the IAP resourses.
    Cheers
    Carlos
    AppRF in instant is a completely distributed solution where there is no interaction between the Aps in a cluster with regards to AppRF. Each AP does AppRF for its connected clients. Hence, there is no relation with Apprf scalability and cluster size so you should be able to enable it on large clusters without concern.
    Under normal network load – typical deployments with 16 clients per AP – DPI module’s CPU utilization is very minimal even when classifying lot of sessions. However, DPI processing is tied to IAP’s dynamic CPU management to ensure that this processing in a loaded system does not affect control plane or management plane traffic.
    Details on the Web categorization feature licensing are still being finalized. It will appear as a part number in the price list. Stay tuned. .....
