I have a new out of the box IAP-215. I have set it up with static IP/Mask/Gateway; saved changes, reset/rebooted the AP, but the default INSTANT SSID won't broadcast. I currently have it connected to PoE and hooked up via console. Why can't i see the SSID?

Did you try it with DHCP first?

I don't have a DHCP server setup. I was hoping to setup the AP without one. I'm just trying to get the first one setup initially to test out the various settings with our environment

You have to type "boot" to boot the access point.

The access point does not see the physical link.  Is the AP ethernet light lit up?  I would check the cable, etc to make sure it is right:

Must i have an uplink? I'm not looking to have any internet access. The power light is a redish color and the 2.4/5 GHz lights are amber

For the instant SSID to appear you do need an uplink. After that you can configure it to not require an uplink.

Thank you, The uplink was the key to seeing the instant ssid broadcast. What settings do i alter in order to be able to still connect to the AP and then access the https://instant.arubanetworks.com site?

Alternatively, you can use "setenv standalone_mode 1" on the console, to enable standalone mode, which can allow the AP to come up without Ethernet uplink.
